INCIDENT HELICOPTER SUPPORT
ATWC provides Mobile Fire Suppressant Gel Mixing Plants in support to incident helicopter operations with a full mixing plant, two 7000 gallon dipping metal tanks, and a 3000 gallon fresh water rinse tank for Type 1 and Type 2 helicopter operations. ATWC has established California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection and National Contracts for federal agencies in providing Mobile Fire Suppressant Gel Mixing Plants.
ATWC Mobile Fire Suppressant Gel Mixing Plants are designed to be rapidly setup in any type of terrain. During the 2006 fire season, CDF & FP Command Teams placed the ATWC Gel Mixing Plant at the head of the fires which was very effective. Incident Team documentation states “the use of Thermo-Gel improved effectiveness of helicopter water dropping missions. The use of Thermo Gel reduced the need for pure water by 55% and reduced extinguishment time by 60%. Helicopters can easily fill long and short line drop buckets and deliver the fire suppressant gel to the target zone rapidly”. ATWC deployed 457,000 gallons in two days.
